The Heroes Season Finale

“You saved the cheerleader, so we could save the world.”

Even though Chapter 23 of the new hit show is definitely not the worst finale this season, it could easily get the award for the most disappointing one. The show showed me exactly what I expected and did it in a very boring way. The final “showdown” that had been hyped up since mid-season ended too quickly and too easily. It was fun when Peter and Nikki were pounding Sylar, but then Hiro showed up (F#$! HIRO. HIRO’s boring. F#$! YOU HIRO) and stabbed him, just like that. How exactly did that happen?

Next scene, Peter started glowing (here is where the show really disappointed me, it could have easily used its powerful scoring here but the director decided not to) and Claire tried to shoot him but couldn’t (Why not? It’s not like he can die). In flew Nathan (again, his intro could have been directed so much better, this one was very cheesy) and decided to save the world by flying Peter away. Hawkins survives (why?), Parkman will probably survive (whhhyyy?) even Sylar survives (F#$! YOU HIRO, YOU’RE USELESS). I mean this guy can remove bullets from his body, can you at least make sure he’s dead.

Book One leaves us here: Nathan is the only one whose dead. Peter will probably regenerate in the middle of the Hudson. Nikki, Mikah and Hawkins go their own way, Suresh and Molly their own way while Claire and Noah (nice name drop, by the way) head towards the reminder of their family. Poor Parkman leaves in ambulance all alone (whatever, he’s boring) and Sylar makes friends with a cockroach or becomes the cockroach.

The writing was fine, the finale suffered from horrible directing. The sequences were weak and could have been done so much better. Moreover, the volume 2 opener didn’t excite me at all. If this is what they meant by generation, they can stick origins up their assess. Watching Hiro trot about spewing cheesy dialogues in rural Japan, does not, in the least, interest me.

I can easily see the first half of the second season and it looks pretty disappointing. Sylar is a regular next season (vomit) and Peter has no memory (lame twist). Peter will spend twelve episodes figuring out who he is and re-discovering his power. Hiro will trot around rural Japan spewing cheesy Japanese dialogues. Sylar will become an alcoholic and whine about how he was suppose to save the world. Claire will try (again) to live a normal life and by mid-season realize (again) that it’s impossible. After reading next season spoilers however, it’s clear that even Nathan is ALIVE. When did Heroes become the new Grey’s Anatomy? Is the show just going to keep adding cast members and never getting rid of them?
